The Mercury Ensemble showcased some of the finest professional musicians in the greater Denver metropolitan area. On April 19, 1996 conductor Thomas Blomster and cellist Wayne Templeman successfully produced the first concert by the Mercury Ensemble. The Ensemble continued for 10 seasons, giving its final performance in 2006.

The ensemble was made up of a core of 12 string players with varying numbers of winds, brass, and percussion added as needed. The Mercury ensemble had the support of many loyal fans and fulfilled a unique professional and artistic roll as Denver’s only fully professional chamber orchestra at the time. Over its existence, the Mercury Ensemble produced over a dozen performances per season and numerous recordings.
